Tidbits: Version 2.0

  • Vegans are people, too. They, and their food, are not part of a worldwide epidemic, which sole purpose is to search and destroy. Yes, tofu was first created by Satan himself (who else could've made such a bland food?), but it has been resurrected into
    a flavorful commodity.
  • Are you seeking employment? Did you fill out an application? Heck, were you one of the first to apply? Than guess what, that doesn't mean you are first pickings for a job! Employment opportunities are not the same as standing in line at a McDonald's, waiting to be served. Oh, and don't even think about stalking and harassing the manager. Why? Because, you idiot, it doesn't help your chances, only hurts them. You will
    come off as C-R-A-Z-Y!
  • Gene Wilder was hell of a lot better of a Willy Wonka than Johnny Depp was or ever will be. Oompa Loompas work better looking like horrid little made-for-your office desktop trolls, singing their songs of spoiled rotten kids than Oompa Loompas that hail from American Idol (the good batch, that is!) Just because a movie follows the book it was adapted from a little more accurately, doesn't make it any better as a movie!
  • Why tell a business that they should have a recycle bin for the aluminum drinks they sell when you're not going to use them?!
  • Coffee is my friend, but Starbucks' Doubleshot
    is my lover.
  • Why is it that whenever a once attached woman becomes single, the first thing she wants to do is go clubbing? What ever happened to gorging oneself on Haagan Dazs chocolate ice-cream in front of a TV while dressed in your comfy sleepwear?
  • You can make a killer fruit salad with this following recipe:
Out of the following fruit, select the fruit you like, cut up into bite sized pieces, and put into a bowl: apples, bananas, kiwi, mangos, papayas, grapes; take 1 lime for every cup of fruit you have, cut in half, and squeeze the juice onto the fruit; sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of your choice of sugar onto the fruit for every cup of fruit you have; mix and refrigerate till chilled; Enjoy!

That concludes this version of tidbits. Thank you, and have a great day!

God help my friend Kris... and her ex

I’m so furious today. I wish I wasn’t at work because all I want to do is pick a fight. I don’t care with whom, and that’s not exactly a mentality I like to have working as a customer service representative in the tourism industry.

Yesterday, my good friend Kris’ boyfriend physically abused her. The son-of-a-bitch f-ing punched her in the face twice and tried to strangle her…all because of a fight they got into over her not eating

Kris is a great woman. She is so sweet, is giving, delightfully flaky, and eccentrically artistic. I’m proud of the fact that we have been friends since 1989, when we met in grade school. She deserves a hell lot better than a little prick.

They’ve gone out for years, and she fell for him because he was unlike any guy she dated before being a wonderful gentleman. She discovered over the years that he held more in common with Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde than he had with Prince Charming.

He’s a little man (emotionally and physically) who has always had a temper problem. I’ve known him for six years and during that time period everyone he knew (including me) told him to wake up and realize he has a major problem.

I broke up my friendship with him about two years ago when he threatened my life (and two other friends of mine) over a trivial matter. I did not want to be associated with an f-ed up person like that, and tried talking Kris into finding someone else ever since.

I’m furious that it had to come to this for her to dump his sorry azz. All I want to do is beat the prick up till all that is left is a bloody pulp of meat and bone! Yeah, that may seem harsh, but I’m someone who gets very protective over those I’m close with, especially does that can’t defend themselves.

God help me if I ever run into that prick, and god help him.

If by some small chance you’re reading this Don, FUCK YOU. *

*I apologize to the younger and sensitive viewers blog over that curse word…sometimes they’re the only words that can sum up a situation…

Some Dreams aren't meant to be...

Creativity can be a bitch.

Inspiration sometimes comes from the darnest places, though not unheard of being inspired by a previous work of art...or literature for that matter.

I started re-reading my "Sandman" collection the other week, after failed attempts to introduce my co-worker fell through. C'est la vie...

I can never just pick up one out of the ten volumes of this excellent work of fiction with-out wanting to read another one and another one and etc., etc. (Those who have read "Sandman" could definitely back me up on just how great Neil Gaiman's work was and is!)

Anyhoo, between having Dream on the brain and a whole bunch of new colored charcoal pencils on my table, there was a project just waiting to happen!

I sat at my drafting table with pride filling me. (You see, I had those pencils for quite soem time, like 3 weeks, and I never got to using them! Lazy, lazy Java...) I finally had a reason to draw with them, and draw I did! Okay, technically doodled, but you get the point.

I ended up spending 5 hours that evening entranced by the clors and designs I was putting forth on paper. It came out great! Well, at least to me it did.

Though a probelm arose when I tried to protect my work. Like I said, it was done in charcoal, which meant is was 100%-bonified-smudgable!! So I had to spray it with a made-to-save fixative...and by doing so, it darken up all my beautiful bright colors, as you can see on your left. : (

I wish y'all could have seen it! The blues were electric, the oranges were blazing, and the yellow in his eyes looked like the stars they were supposed to be. Now, they all look, Blah!

Though that was a trial run...with the pencils that is. I'm hoping the next pic looks a shit-load better.

Though in the meantime, if you know about any fixatives that can protect and not darken up one's beautifully bright colors, please share with the class!

Foo Foo Film Fest

Being that the unbearable summer heat has approached us in the Big Easy, it is always a wise decision to find any activity that can be enjoyed in the enveloping coolness that air-conditioners bring, very wise.

For me, I have picked up the delightful past time of renting movies and catching up on my filming education.

About two weeks ago I finally got around to renting “Lawrence of Arabia.” It was a beautiful epic, sad finale’.

This past week, I took advantage of my plentiful discounts I have acquired to Blockbuster, and rented “Lost in Translation”, “Reservoir Dogs”, and “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

I need suggestions and more ideas on what to rent. For some strange reason, my mind keeps blanking on what I wanted to rent. (I really need to write them down…) So far, my walk-down-the-aisle-till-you-see-something-you-want method has been proving itself to be useful. Though I ask dear readers, what would you suggest?

What movies would you describe as a must see?

What films have you seen that have impressed you?

What movies have you seen simply took your breath away or made you go “wow”?

Any recommendations will be extremely appreciated!

Conversations with the cat

“Ch-ch-ch-changes...”

Sing on Brother Bowie, sing on.

Sometimes, you feel that it’s the right time. What it’s the right time, depends on who you are and , well, what you need. For me, I need a change. I’ve been feeling that way for, hmm, maybe about four years now. Yes, it is quite a long time, but, well, you know.

I’m ready for that change, at least emotionally I am. Now am I financially ready...that is a totally different subject.

Every other day my thoughts float into the notion of traveling and seeing what the nation, no, the world has to offer. God willing, I only have about fifty more years till Death beckons me to her arms. Which also would give me somewhere around thirty more years of a participating body, to go along with my soul! Ahhh...to think, there actually was a time in our lives in which we couldn’t wait to grow up. How I long for those days of future past.

I had a conversation with Nova, my cat, in which I told him I was ready to move on. I asked if he was. Surprisingly, his answer was yes, he was ready to move on...to his food bowl. Ahhh...to have to troubles and worries of a cat. How I envy thee...

The other day I called my brother up.

“Kenny, are you available for lunch or dinner one day?”

“What? What’s this about?”

“What?! Can’t a sister ask her brother out for a meal?”

“Uh, no.”

“Well, Kenny, you’ve figured me out. Here I was thinking I could pull a fast one on you. My real motive was so I could hit you up for some cash,” I answered back sarcastically.

Laughter could be heard.

My brother and I have never been what one would call close. I can’t think of the countless times in my life in which I tried desperately to achieve some kind of bond with him. The notion has occurred to me that I’m chasing a cloud. It’s not something that I’ll ever be able to obtain. Though I was struck with the fact that one day, hopefully in the far, far future, my brother will be my only family. As much as I want them to, my parents will not live forever. Death will greet them, and knowing my parents, they’ll gladly welcome her.

So that’s what that outing attempt was. I want to bond with my brother.

The older I get, the more I realize that I’m a person who’d very comfortable with who she is and isn’t really scared of being alone. I’m perfectly calm at the notion of never finding that “someone” and never having kids. Though there are people I know who simply freak out with that type of radical thinking (way too many folk think that view is one hundred percent pessimistic...what ignorant times we live in,) I just don’t believe it’s for everyone. It’s not my calling. Now my friend Satcey on the other hand... ;)

It’s all random thoughts. I think “Lost in Translation” had an effect on me. A positive effect, but an effect on me none the less.

“...turn and face the strain.”

7.25.2005

Like this post will matter...

...but people, when it says "no children allowed", please respect and follow it!!

Now I don't hate kids, but I'm definitely not what you consider kid friendly (probably due to me never being around kids, other than myself, growing up).
Though, at the doctor today, a woman brought her three-year old to the doctor's office and he was simply a wild one. Hopping and yelling and walking around giving magazines to us otehr patients and trying to climb on us and just staring at us...ARGH! I was ready to scream! I do not feel comfortable around kids, especially a stranger's kid. Here I was, waiting for my appointed at the OB-GYN (for those of you that are slow, it's the women doctor) with eight other women who all seemed to fine and dandy with this hyper-active kid. Some were even encouraging his "cute" behavior! there was a reason that sign was put up, yet she was blatantly ignoring the thing. It would've been another if the kid actuall y sat and would shut up, but...

Why can't people follow instructions!! GRRRRR....

Brain Pains

My brain hurts.

About two-weeks ago I came up with this wonderful premise for a story/novel/poem (whatever it wants to be...) and have been working on it ever since then. I got my friend C.K. to collabrarate with me, and so far, it's been great. Though unfortunately my mind won't stop thinking about it.

We've been letting the story write itself, since, as of now, we're definite on who two of our main characters are, and we have about three scenes we're confident about. Unfortunatly, we're stuck on a conflict, which is just a tad important. :D

The past two days I've been immersing myself in no brain activites (watching cartoons, watching eyecandy movies, etc. and etc.), trying to distract my brain from, what's that word? Oh, yes, thinking.

It didn't work.

No matter what I do, my mind starts to wander, trying to answer all the questions that need to be answered. Woe is me!!!

My brain hurts...and I wish it would stop.

NYC: More of Day 2 and 3

Took tons of Empire State building pics because the veiws were so amazing. This was a fave veiw due to the obvious site of Times Square in the midst of the city. I would hate to see their electric bill...

I got on my knees and leaned on my back and took a pretty darn good sanp of the Empire's spire. It came out looking all retro, like it was embellished with neon lights...which it wasn't.

There were these amazing stain glass murals in the Empire's lobby of the 10 or 12 or whatever number of ancient wonders, including this one of the building itself.

See how cool a pic can be when ya invert the colors?

One of my fave spots...Washington Square. It had am absolute New Orleans vibe to it. Don't beleive me? Check out the small nude child playing in the water: bottom left corner, 2nd kid from the left. Can't get any more N'awlins than that!

One of the many inspiring shots I took. There was so much awesome architecture.

This was my only goal: find the enormous billboard of Batman Begins in Times Square! We got there, and it wasn't there. Walked back and forth, looked high and low, and eventually gave up. Came back the next day to check out bargain theatre prices and out of nowhere, my friend Rob screams, "LOOK! There's the Batman ad"! Bull, is what I thought, like they can put a billboard up over night. He swore it was true, so I turned and there it was! Than I watched it dissolve away and watched it disappear! Apparently it shared the Toys'R'Us windows with 3 others ads. The were displayed on 10 minute intervals on theses roll out screens. Go figure! In the meantime, Look how BIG!!

My fave NYC 2005 momnet. While heading to NY's library down a side street, a crowd blocks the avenue creating a lot of racket. "Hey!" "Look Here!' DENZEL!" Yep, Denzel. As in Denzel Washington. He was signing autographs (guy in blu with baseball cap--left center) and making people go nuts. I didn't care too much for the siting, though I was amused at how star struck so many became, and how many camera phones I saw in use, all at once!

THE library. Took lots of photos, this is one of my fave. Not the best veiw of the libaray, but the I love the wonderful atmosphere that was caught that moment.

See what can happen when you try to take an active shot of the subway...damn guy got in the way...

Well, that's it guys and gals! Hope you enjoyed the NYC 2005 presentation.

For prints of teh previous pictures, please post a request with which one. Open schedule tickets to New York City is the only payment accepted.

NYC: Day 2

Really beautiful, really old. I think it's St.Patrick's.

If ya can't read the sign, it says Broadway.

The 'walk' sign was all aglow, so I quickly ran to mid-crosswalk and snapped one of my fave shots.

A central park veiw.

Another central park veiw.

I had time to stop and smell the roses, or pansies as it might seem.

One of my fave all time songs is "Imagine". It would've been wrong for me not to stop here.

The guy who lays out the flowers said he's done it--weather permit--everyday for the past 20 years. I sat here for a couple of hours watching...it was great.

Better Late than Never...

Though my trip has been about three weeks ago, I finally got around to scanning and saving and uploading my pictures.

It was a great trip. Weather was perfect and I traveled in good company...who had relatives witha place to shack at on the Island! (You the man, Rob!)

In the meantime, enjoy the pics, one day at a time! I preent to y'all, Day 1:

Look! Me!...in DC's Reagan Airport.

An infinite number of taxis sat ouside Laguardia waiting for their potential victims, I mean customers.

Some of the best veiws are seen from one's car.

Dennis the Menace

If you're not a Southern United States resident, chances are you think I'm talking about that pestering blond kid, but I'm not.

In actuality, I speak of that darn hurricane that's in the Gulf of Mexico right now promising to wreak havoc on either us folks in southern Louisiana, the Mississippi Gulf coast, Alabama Gulf Coast or somewhere's around the Western border of Florida. It sucks when this happens, because everyone wants it to go soemwhere's else, which is wishing the harm to go on whom-ever that might be. Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

So right now, in the vicinity of New Orleans (which is where this little ol' gal is from), we are being commaded to leave if ya can or we're waiting to be told to get out. (IOW, waiting for the mandatory evacuation message to be placed, which my guess will be this afternoon.) Part of me wants to stay--meaning hurricane go away--another part of me wants to be evacuated--that's the kid in me:D--and than there's the adventurous freak in me who want's to yell to the storm "BRING IT ON!!" and have a NEw Orleans hurricane party! That consist of of one locking themself in their home with numbers of friends and family and getting drunk and mainly having a party! Very unsafe; very dangerous; very stupid, but LOTS OF FUN!

In the meantime, here are some more quizes:

FREE-DUMM!!*

*My apologies to Mel Gibson for ripping off his emotional line from "Braveheart".

It’s the Fourth of July here in the United States of America. I’m not gonna get all patriotic and blab on about how we’re the greatest nation and all the crap, since that’s what that is, crap! In my honest opinion, it’s a horrible thing to declare since, to me, it doesn’t seem to convey a sense of pride, but a sense of ignorance. Unless one has travel the world and seen every nation that our diverse world offers, there is no way to actually get a personal sense of who or what the greatest is.

Though this isn’t what today’s blog entry is to be about. Instead, I want it to be a celebration in freedom, which is what the Fourth of July is about. A celebration in history when this nation became it’s own. So, in honor of today, I want ya’ll to post whatever you want. Got a gripe? Post it. Is there something you’re proud of? Post it. Do you want to say what you had for breakfast? Post it!!

Whatever it is, no matter how trivial it might seem or how stupid (which are the best; humour funny!). Celebrate today…oh, and remember to pig out on barbeque, the other thing the Fourth of July is about!! Oh, and...

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Tidbits

Yesterday I celebrated my 25th Anniversary of being alive. I was hoping to write some insightful blog; you know, a reflection of my past-25-years-on-earth type of entry. Apparently, yesterday showed me that birthdays are just another day! Nothing-insightful here…typical.

My ever so great parents took me out to dinner last night at Ruth Chris’ Steakhouse. That place is the bomb! Oh my gosh, the steaks were heavenly! The wine was incredible! The cheesecake was so delicate! *drool* This is definitely a highly recommended restaurant you should hit at least once in your lifetime. Oh, and be prepared to spend your weekly paycheck there, it’s a little pricey… : D

I have successfully returned back to my roots as being Javafoofoo…I am shaking like a leaf because of that! I completely forgot how much I love coffee and completely forgot that one shouldn’t have two cups of coffee in a twelve-hour period when one hasn’t drunk a smidgen of coffee in over a month. My bad!

Also, I'm a Bat-fan and proud of it! So to all my friends who shake their heads while giggling at the notion of me seeing Batman Begins four times, :P ! I don't mind being a bat-fanatic, a bat-geek, batty for Bats, etc, etc. We all have our passions, be it food, films, God/religion, politics, or Batman! So, :P !

It's the Little things that matter

Something has been missing. My life has felt empty for a while. Am I not satisfied at work? Well no, I’m not…but it’s bearable and I can deal with that. Do I need a guy in my life? Ummm….no. Got friends that I care for and love, and I really don’t feel like I’m currently up for the responsibilities of a relationship…for now. Is my travel lust bothering the s*** out of me? At the moment, no. I guess my recent trip to New York has quenched it for a while. Do I need to see Batman Begins…again? Yes, but patience is a virtue and blah, blah, blah.

So what is it??!!

Wait!! I know what it is! I can’t believe I didn’t know. It’s practically been staring me in the face and if it was a snake it would of bit me!

I…need…. COFFEE!

Here I am, Javafoofoo, and I am not even living up to my name. What kind of blogger am I not to do such a thing?! I can’t even remember the last cup I had of that wonderful, dark elixir of energy! Ah, how I love thee, let me count the ways…

I do declare that I, Javafoofoo, will rectify this dilemma, and get all caffinated. Laissez le bon temps roulez!*

*Editor’s note: That statement is a New Orleans saying that means “Let the good times roll”. All inquiries on pronunciation can be posted on site…and you better not be a NOLA native.

6.23.2005

Lazy, lazy, lazy. lazy!

Though I'm not! really! I just haven't had the time yet to organize my thoughts--and my pictures--from my New York trip. So get off my case!! *twitch, twitch*

I'll get to it...you'll see..it'll be here...Soon, so soon...

Editor's Note: We apologize to those who have no idea what this "mental spasm" is about. If explanation is needed, please re-read the information listed below the "JavaFooFoo" title. All great minds--big and small--need to crack every so often. Thank-you for your understanding.

The Stuff Dreams are Made of

Do you dream in color? I do. It’s not the usual bright and vivid or realistic type colors that we see in through our eyes during everyday life. It’s more dark and muted giving off the impression of a perpetual night. Though it’s not. It just seems that way. Is that normal? Is there a normal? Do you dream this way? Do you dream in an Alice-in-wonderland type of world? Or does your imagination stick to the classic black and white? What colors does your id portray to you?

I woke up this morning feeling slightly sad and apprehensive. I remembered my prior dream a lot better than I usually do (which is pretty much never!). There was an occurrence of love at first sight with me and this other man. I think I was at work with a busy (IOW crowded) day. He was there with another woman, which I think was his girlfriend. We slightly flirted, making eye contact, smiling at each other, etc., etc., etc.

Hours, minutes, or moments later (it’s always so hard to tell which in dreamland) I received an anonymous gift of flowers. Nothing fancy; it was practically a stem of beautiful exotic flowers. I wonder who it was from and my eyes went back to the guy I was flirting with. A slight smile came across his face, which, in this dream, confirmed that the anonymous sender was he. Now this is where the imagination kicks in.

Some disaster was approaching, god only knows (since I can’t remember!). In this rush, the man pulled me aside and we “hid” in the restroom and he spoke some words of love or caring or something along those lines that, once again, I can’t remember. We hugged like lovers being, um, torn apart, or, um, something like that. (Okay, I’m not good with romantic themed metaphors. Shoot me!) The panic ensued and the all was evacuated out, stampede style! People were carried away by the vanloads, and I was, of course, in the same van as my mysterious man and his girl. We approached our destination (which looked strangely like my childhood neighborhood) and were to, well; get the heck out of the vehicle. Now during this trip, the guy’s girl caught some vague happenings between her man and me. Tears were welting in my eyes and he kept looking back at me with concern. When we did get kicked out, she grabbed her guy by the arm, looked in his in his eyes, and announced that she was carrying his child. (IOW, “I’m not letting you leave me to raise this kid by myself, you bastard.” If any of ya’ll watch Gilmore Girls Gilmore Girls, it was sort of like that scene in which Christopher told Lorelei that his girlfriend was pregnant.) I was absolutely heartbroken and I could see that he was distressed by this news. WE looked at each other knowing that it was over before it begins. I ran off in sobs and cried, and etc., etc., etc. And that’s pretty much it.

When I did wake up, like I said, I felt slightly sad and apprehensive. It was feelings that stuck with me through the morning. More importantly, what the heck did it mean??!! The only thing I understood was the guy in my dream. It was (*prepare to laugh*) Christian Bale. But that’s because I ended up seeing three movies this week with him as the star. Actions like that will sink people/places/things into the subconscious. But I digress from the subject. What the heck did my dream mean?

So, you peeps out there got two things to answer for me: if ya' can. What color you dream in and, more importantly, what my dream meant?

All responses shall be rewarded with my undying gratitude.

A$$HOLE ALERT!

This morning, maybe only after 30 minutes after clocking in at my customer service-tourism related job, my manager comes to me with a warning.

Manager: " Angie, have you heard about the hearing impaired party that will be on our first (tour)?"

Me: "No."

Manager: "Well to give you a heads up, (the tour company we are in partnership with) has a group of four that are hearing impaired that has been giving the company quite some trouble. They've been e-mailing (us) back and forth for weeks now demanding an interuptor on board the (tour). When they were let known that (we) didn't have one, that all (we) had were written up guides, they said they were insulted by that and they would go to a lawyer if we don't make things right. (We) did check into an interuptor and that'll be somewheres around $1000 for there services! In the end, even though they said they found other tours that would provide them with am interuptor, they still decided to go with (us) and they've still been difficult, though everything that (we) can possibly do for them has been done. So just be aware that they will be on our (tour) this morning."

Demanded? Lawyer? What the %^&$?!? The first thing I thought was why don't they go somewhere else? Heck, even my manager asked her higher ups about us having to take them as guest. When the company 's lawyer was questioned on this, he/she said we did. They even sent e-mails saying they would cause trouble during the tours if their needs weren't met. Cause trouble during the tours. Gosh, it's like children were coresponding with the company.

In my eyes, they were bluffing to get what they wanted. And it worked. Demanded things we didn't have to offer. Threathened us with legalities and disruption of tours. (And these were adults!!) They said other tours offered what they wanted, so why didn't go to them? It was because they were bluffing and because the were pricks and a$$holes.

Out of Nowhere

I don’t know if the moon and stars are in the proper position or if my feminine feelings are in overdrive, but I got into remembering how my current job was predicted by a fortune teller at a company Christmas party.

A Christmas party!

It was last year; we had it at this wonderful restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The food was plenty, the liquor was flowing and the dice was rolling (yes, dice; we had gambling tables at our party; what did you expect, this is New Orleans; Laissez le bon temps roulez and all that!). I'm not sure whose idea it was, or who had the connections to these intriguingly delightful seers into what was yet to come (and sometimes past), but we had about a total of four palm readers and tarot card readers.

Of course I had to have my future read!!

I first grabbed a palm reader. No one was at her table, and I knew from past parties that everyone loved to join in on the fun. In other words, long lines to come! She told me stuff past palm readers said: so n so many* kids in your life, you are a blah blah* person with blah-blah* qualities, and so on and so on. [Editor’s note: Me got bad memory, so I kinda don’t remember the exact specifics.] It was fun. Enjoyable. Ticklish.

Later that evening I found the palm reader and got ready to wait in line!! (Like I said, later that evening; She was found, and a ten-minute wait ensued. Yay.) My turn finally came. Yay! I sat down, we exchanged quick pleasantries, and she proceeded to as me to pick a card. Than another card. Than another. And another. And than…another! She looked this and that and examined them. She hmmmed and hummed, and than, she spoke! I honestly can’t remember most of what she said, except for two things. First, she said that (this) year I would find love. I think. Or she said I’d marry. I’m not sure. I think it was find. Damn my bad memory. But who cares about that. : D

The other thing she said was referring to my future employment. She told me that sometime next year a job offer would be presented to me out of nowhere. That was it. Her advice was absolutely zippo. She said that she doesn’t want to give me any more info because it was my life, and I need to make my own decisions. Ok. I could deal with that. My life, my choice, but my life (and probably some choices I make) will lead to a job offer. Cool!!

Forward to the future. Now, only about three n\months ago that job offer came. Out of nowhere, like was predicted. You see, the company I work for bought out another company that went down he hole. They had plans to bring that company back to its glory days with them in control. One of the managers saw me in action, loved my skills, and wanted me for the newborn company. Next thing, I’ve got a new job (and new pay!!). Out of nowhere.

First Annual Take a Bath Day

On Monday, May 30, 2005, most Americans around the entire nation shall be observing Memorial Day. Though this year, I suggest another option: Take a Bath.

I just did, and it was marvelous! Not your usual, water in, body in, wash, rinse, out and drain type of bath, but the type in which time stood still.

In which the water was hot enough to boil lobsters in.

In which the amount of foam bath sop used could've cleaned an entire orphanage for an entire year.

In which loved ones were afriad I drowned because I was in the bath that long.

In which the Foo Fighters serenaded their ever so lovely tunes to me while I drifted off into oblivion (and yet avoided that dreaded drowning!!!).

It was a well deserved bath. My muscles no longer ache. The stress that was there is--dare I say!--gone! (Though maybe I shouldn't have had the temperature around boiling point--I almost couldn't get out the bath do do being overheated...oops!)

But every one join together--not literally now--and go take a bath! Skip the shower for just one evening/morning and relax your troubles away in about 2.5 feet of warm to hot water--depending on your preferences.

Celebrate the First Annual Take a Bath Day!!

Ix-nay on the igpay atinlay

I don't know pig latin. That bugs me. I should. I remember as a kid all my friends were using it with the greatest of ease while I stared on like a dumb and mute fool. One of my fav books, Y: The Last Man had it in a scene, and it drove me bonkers on what-the-heck they were saying:

355: "Hidigey, idigallidigisdigon! Zidigip idigit!"

Dr. Mann: "Didigont yidgou tidigell midige whidigat tidigo didigo!"

Yorick: "Don't mind them. They do this all the time. I think it's chinese."

[Stranger]: "All right, now I know you're a dude. That's gibberish, it's like pig latin only girls know how to speak. Never heard anybody do it that fast though."

I'm not a "dude" (at least to my knowledge...), any help? I am willing to be educated in the ways of pig latin!

Damn...these are really addictive

Yet another quiz. It was fun!

You Are 45% Left Brained, 55% Right Brained

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.

Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.

If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.

Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.

Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.

If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.

Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

A test for...YOU!

So which one fits me the best? I took a quiz, got 3 results--all in their "fits you best" order--though I'm curious to see what my friends think. Which one do you think describes me...come on, let's have a little fun!!

HELP!...

...yes agian, and also with a deadline!

May 23, 2005 to be exact. My baby cousin shall be a graduating from Highschool. He's a bright kid who's incredibly musically talented who's heading off to college toward the end of the year with his parents not having to worry about a penny! I love the boy!

Anyway, the help comes in the form of a question: What do you wish you knew or wish somebody told you after you graduated from highschool? Or, what advice would you give those kids who, well, need it.

Was it you wish you knew that aluminum doesn't bode well in the microwave? Do you wish someone told you that there are certain things the toilet will not take? Should someone have warned you about the dangers of credit cards?

Please share with me what-ever they are and no matter how many!! I'm putting togethera info card for him and I want what-ever comes to mind...even if my audience is only the total of 5, I want to hear from all of you!!

Thanks in advice!

PS Thanks to evryone who helped with the gagaku dilemna; you know who you are and I'll let you know just how much your help, um, helped as soon as my grades are posted!

I Love Serendipity's

"Hey, I'm going too! I'll be there Friday! And as for what I would see if I were going to NYC - well, my baby cousin! And Serendipity" Post response from Stacey about my future trip to New York

Serendipity! Serendipity! Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways! *sigh*

Serendipity Three is the greatest place (so far) that I've been to in NY. It's this totally awesome, absolutely fabulous, gotta stop there if you go restaurant in Manhatten. They have these excellente' desserts, specifically the Frozen Hot Chocalate which is exactly what it sounds like. A frozen hot chocalate.

I know what you're thinking, "How can that be?! A frozen, hot chocolate?!". But it is, and it's great and I love it and would marry it if I could, because it is that great and you must go to New York and have it, try it, fall in love with it!!

5.03.2005

New York, New York...

I'm going back to New York City! I'm going back to New York City! Yay! I so can't wait! Everything is set...well, plane tix and accomadations, the two big things that matter. I'll be checking on out on June 9th and so can't wait!

What would you go see if you were going to New York? What would you go back to see or have to se if you were going back to New York? I don't even know, but I better start thinking about it...I only got i month til and 3 whole days when I do get to NYC. But that's ok...I guess; cause I'm going back to New York City!

School and stuff

So it turns out that there is a strong posibility that I shall be able to get a really good art education with-out leaving my own home! (*sarcastic remark approaching* I'm sure that makes my parents happy!)

The Academy of Art Institute in San Fran has this wonderfully comprehensive selection of art classes that can be taken online. That means part of the major price problem has been taken care of; no housing worries! Yea! I can't even afford my own place here in NOLA; how the heck am I gonna afford a West coast place!

On another note, is anybody free this Friday night to escort me to an awards ceremony? It's gonna be pretty darn boring and I have no idea how long it's gonna be, but you would have the privelage to be seen with me! So, any takers?

A Daughter's Duty

So I was really looking forward to going out tonight. I had a wicked day, and not in the good sense, and I really wanted to forget it the best way possible. By going to the beach!

It was gonna be great! I got off of work at 5PM which means by the time I got to the beach of choice (somewhere along the Mississippi Gulf coast) it would've all dark and starry and all lovely. There was gonna be good company involved and burgers involved and french fries (mmm, I LOVE french fries) and hopefully ice-cream involved--ice-cream has been very meaningful to my life a lot at this moment! But along came the mother.

I got home to see her just about to walk the dog and I passed on the message that I wasn't gonna be around much longer adn she gave me the LOOK. You know the look. Apparently it's something you acquire after a child is born in which you will be able to communicate millions of thoughts and words to that child with-out saying one word. Awesome power involved.

Anyway, I got he look followed by sad eyes followed by "didn't you already go out this week?' followed by"but your dad's cooking stuffed salmon". CRAP! There goes my plans. It's either give the mom her one night or say screw it and run off to the beach.

I'll let you take an educated guess to which I chose and I'll leave you to ponder on the times you have personally chose your parents over what you wanted to really do.

Just a thought....

....I'm gonna graduate next year. At the end of December-ish. From college. Community college thta I's been going to since 2001. That just seems so...freaky.

Though it's not like I don't have anything to be freaked or scared about. I'l be 26 when that comes to be ,so it's not like I'll be a clueless graduate. Heck, I've practically have a career now since who I'm working for I have been with since 1999 and I've practically settle into a career...but I'm not doing what I love!

In the meantime, if anyone out there happens to know how I can finance about 3-4 extra years of schooling at a college that will average about $15,000 a year, please, let me know!

This little ol' soon to be a college graduate actually would love to continue her educationa t an art institute (I'm stuudying graphic design!), but unfortuately, the schools I look at cost as much as I make...annually. Ain't that a kicker!

OR here's an idea; any donations can be sent to, 1113 King He....nah, I can't do that...can I?

and now for something completely different...

I have a paper due at the end of this month about gagaku music in Japan. It's for a anthropological music class in which the professor does not speak about music. Quite interesting, if you look at that fact. (Been over 5 weeks and he has just mentioned music in culture; CRAZY man, crazy!!)

I'm telling you lovely people because I hoping that someone who has just read that would know something about gagaku and where to find some kind of useful info on it. YES! This is a cry for help. Help!!

Everything I keep finding is simply another lesson in repitition; same ol' same ol'...

Thanks if you can...and if not, just thanks for reading!

PS Thanks Orchard for those kind words. It seems this month I've been needing to hear soemthing inspirational and uplifting almost every other day...but I do not fear because this month is almost over (!yay!). Thanks so freaking much agian!

Read Me

I created this blog with the intention of being a happy place, a joyous location where I could just blab and blab and blab and blab. And not just blab about anything; instead blab about the incoherent and blab about subjects that were better left to be found in Delirium’s realm.

That’s what javafoofoo was supposed to be. Simply a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious kinda site if ya know what I mean. Unfortunately, sometimes the higher beings at work can have other things planned out for you (or me in this case!).

Consider this an explanation to the past. Sorta. I feel like ever since I had my last bout of seizures about a month ago that every where I go there is this itty-bitty rain-cloud following me. I’ve even tried to beat it by **warning: extreme metaphor approaching** using a umbrella of happiness, but I can’t name how many times the darned thing was either blown away or just had holes in it.

I don’t know when all this crappiness will go away, but I really hope soon. I’ve been having days where moodiness simply takes over, and even though CK has tried to assure me that it’s probably my emotions acting all normal (as in "you are a woman, ya know" type of normal) but I totally disagree. I have to disagree; mainly none of these emotions have been associated with chocoholic cravings, so therefore I am not a woman just being a woman. Wouldn’t you agree?

I think the only way to "cure" this is to get the heck out of here. Travel that is. The travel bug bite me with first trip to New York City last year (NYC RULES!!!) and I’ve been craving more trips anywhere. United States’ Pacific coast, parts of Texas, Key West, anywhere in the wide open plains and I can never forget NYC; that place I will always go back to. (I’ve gotta-there’s just that much to do and see there.) I consider my seizures a derailment to all this at the time, though in actuality, it is something I will and have to learn to deal with.

A saying I heard repeated numerous times throughout my schooling in Catholic institutions comes to mind; "We all have our cross to bear" and it is true. I guess I gotta stop trying to act like it’s not there and acknowledge its existence.

What do you think?

3.15.2005

Stuck in the mud...wanna help?

So I'm planning on opening a new blog. I really don't know when, mainly because of the slight problem of not having a good name for the site. Maybe you can help!

It's gonna be a movie site. Yea, I know, not exactly the most original theme, but the h-e-double hockey stick with it! I'm a movie/television addict, so I might as well pay tribute to what gets me through the day (and what keeps up at night).

I was inspired in the shower. Well, not exactly inspired as so much the idea came to me while in the shower. The site will be an open site in which I'm gonna send out more than a few invites to get people to join in with it. All I want people to do is write about movies or television or a reveiw about a movie or television if the person felt like it. BUT...I can't get the ball rolling due to it being stuck in the ground from there being no name for the blog! ARGH!

So, if ya got any god ideas, post them; let me know, please. It would be much appreciated and do a a mighty good for mankind!

Worst Fire in Louisiana in 30 Years

That is what I woke up to this morning being sprawled out on the front page of my local paper, The Times Picayune. It was absolutely horrible to read that and brought tears to my eyes. There was only one survivor, a 17 year old girl, and what did she survive for? To found out that everyone that was in that house perished. All 11 of them. Her mom and a mixture of siblings and cousins, all between the ages of 3 to 17.

People, try to appreciate the loves ones in your lives. Apparently, as reminded of once agian, they can be gone any second. And if you pray, saya prayer for that girl, because she will need more than that in the end.

The Cherry on Top

So I begun my day with an early visit to the dentist and with the thought that I hope that he found out what has been bothering me this past week. BIG mistake.

You see, when I had my seizures on February the 25, my subconscious decided the begin all the fun my slamming me to the ground as if I was getting ready to offer praise to the world in a prostrating format, though unfortunately I also slammed my knees, followed by my chin, followed by my two front teeth, which have been aching and throbbing all week. I went to the dentist with the stupid wish that he found something wrong; for if he found something wrong, it could be fixed, hence-forth the pain would end.

! Y E A H !
Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids.
The Good news: my teeth were not cracked. The Bad bews: they instead were dying, hence-forth a root canal was needed to be done. Good-bye $400 that were needed for my Mastercard bill. Yet Hello cold water, ice-cream, and um, well, um, you get the picture. (I can't think of anything else cold to eat, hmph.) I had no freaking idea that today was going to bring a root-canal with it. It was quite painless due to the 15 shots that were punctured in my mouth to numb it, though it was not very fun to listen to the music of the drill that was used to get to my dying nerves.
But I'm home with a prescription for painkillers.
As a co-worker said, when things get so bad, there is only the good to precede. I really hope she's right.

Interview Me

"Would you like to be interviewed by the Webkahunah?" was asked some time ago now. I really don't remember since my brain hasn't exactly been working exactly like it used to, but if it is that much of a concern for you, you could always go check out his site.

Anyway, getting back to what he asked, I answered back that I wanted to be interviewed. Who wouldn't? I mean, it's tons of fun to interact and write and just all and all discover more about your own self by making your brain work. And I guess he sorta agreed in his own way cause he posted these questions and I have answered them. I hope you enjoy learning a little bit more about moi. Bon Appetite! hmm, I wonder if I even spelled that right?

Five questions for JavaFooFoo:

  • You've died and gone to heaven, there is a god, and you go to have a chat with him. What do you hope he says about/to you?

"WELCOME! I hope you enjoyed your extremely long life on earth and I hope you enjoy your time here in Heaven. Sorry about the crap I threw at you down on earth, but C'est le vie, you knew how it was! There's a good number of folk who've been waiting quite some time to meet you, so enough with this chit-chat and why don't you tour the place!"

  • What do you consider to be the craziest thing you've ever done?

I prefer not to share what that is...actually, who cares anymore. Way back in college, about 7 years ago now, I did cocaine. I was totally lucky that nothing bad happened from it, and I totally don't recommend people doing what I did. Luck only runs so far, and someone in my epileptic state shouldn't risk playing with those type of matches!

  • If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?

As badly as I would love to be about 6 inches taller, have perfect vision, and just a tad less "voluptoulas", I'll keep all that anyday with not one single complaint if I could be seizure free. I wouldn't wish epilepsy on any enemy of mine.

  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Oooh!....Superspeed! Not only would I have the ability to go any where I want in the blink of an eye, but I would have the metabolism to boast with it! Sweet! Super-fit, super-thin, super-fast FooFoo!

  • If you could go back in time and undo one action, what would it be and why?

Now this is a really hard one. Mainly because I can barely remember what happened yesterday, henceforth what happened in the past 24 years of my life. The one thing, though, that keeps popping back in my head is a reaction I had back when I was about 8 years old. You see, when I was a kid, I was picked on a lot for being, um, sensitive. I went to this summer camp, the first one in which I went away for a week, this all-girl camp, and the one little group of girls just picked on me the whole time. To add insult to injury, they faked a apology at the end of the week. They ended up picking a sponsor of their group to come up to me and say how sorry they were for picking on me, will I ever forgive them, blah, blah, blah and BAM! She pulls down my shorts in front of the whole camp, like about 25 girls at the time, including the some teen-age counselors. Of course, you can imagine my 8 year old reaction.

So the point of this story was that if I could undo one action, I wouldn't have cried, I would've started my first fight and showed them my "forgiveness"!! Hmph, kinda funny how its been over 15 years ago and I still remember that like it was yesterday.

Okay, now as per requested, if anyone would like me to interview them, please post a request that simply says "interview me" and I'll throw five queations at you. You must then post those five questions up on your blog along with the answers and this same request thrown out at your readers for you to Interveiw somebody. And have a nice day!

All better now: Part II

All better now...ain't that a load of crap.

I spent most of yesterday in the hospital, pretty much in an unconscious state of mind. All thanks to the wonderfull ailment "epilepsy". Had it since I was thirteen years old and it doen't look like it's going to be going anyway any freaking time soon.

What really sucks is that yesterday was suppose to be a joyous day. I had that 11AM meeting with a supervisor who offered me a position in a new department with a slight pay-raise. Instead, I luckily make it home just in time to lose track of time and overhear my mom speak to a friend how I had a seizure (which is one's body goes into convulsions), soon to be followed by numbers two and three. Right now, I'm tired, depressed and have a nasty bruise under my chin. And my tongue hurts--you see, during one's convulsions you accidently gnaw at your tongue.

I just got back my car only two weeks ago from being on a 6-month grace period from my last seizure, and now I have to go at agian. If I want to drive that is. I love driving. I always appreciated the freedom it brought me. Brought.

This was suppose to be a happy blog written yesterday about my new acquired job. Instead, I'm bringing my depressed thoughts and feeling to share with the world. I've never asked why me, when it came to this retrid illness, just why. Of all illnesses one could get, I get one that gives absolutely no warning. I Hate It.

2.24.2005

All better now: Part I

Earlier today one of my supervisors gave me a call up to arrange a meeting at his office tomorrow. Don't worry, it's nothing bad. It's good. Actually, there is a high possibility of it being really good. He already stated that it has to do with the company I work for offering me a position in a new department that they just formed. He mentioned the word "promotion". **SQUEAL!!!**

That means two things.

  1. Hyperventilating (did I even spell that right?) shall be commencing through-out the evening.
  2. The psychic at the company Christmas party was right.
p>And number two has me floored!!

I had no idea that when a perfect stranger, who literally had been put here on this wonderful green earth to amuse me would turn out to be more than entertaining, but correct. You see, back at the party in December, she made the prediction that I would be offered a job out of the blue sometime in the following year. She than preceded to follow her comment with "I'm not going to tell you what to do, because that is a choice you must make; to take this job or decline it". And here it is, the following year and I have been offered a job out of the blue. (Which is the honest to gawd truth! I didn't see this coming a mile away!)

So now I wait till the meeting to see what my future might have in store for me. and I can't wait to tell ya'll all about it !

Though now I can't help but wonder where my true love is, since that psychic lady did say I was also gonna get married this year...

2.19.2005

Greetings from the Hagging Witch of the South

After you hit that magical age of 21 (which is a magical number in thes United States--or so we are foolish enough to believe that it is--all because we a person becomes "legal"), everybody has that moment in your life when you realize that you are now an adult. Heck, someyimes it will come sooner than that. A can name a few, for example the first time somebody refered to me as a "woman". Who would've known that would have meant so much to a budding young lady--or should I say woman?

Anyway, today definitely hits the list of "you know you're an adult when...". I missed the Spanky's housewarming gala. Sickness=1, FooFoo=0. But if I went, I would of been such a horrible guest just by being there. Imagine it, all their freinds and family enjoying the wonderful food and libations to the musical sound of someone coughing their lungs out! And my chest feels like elephants took turns throughout the night kicking me there (which all I knew is what happened; I mean, I was asleep most of the night thanks to the makers of nitequil).

I soooo wanted to be there. I was in tears this morning calling CK and Biscuit up to let them know they had to find another way to trek that 3 hour journey to The Spanky's. I know CK found a ride through Ringo (thanks a bunch for that; such a sweetie to pick him up which put an extra hour to your jorney; come on everybody, join in "HIP HIP HOORAY! HIP HIP HOORAY! HIP HIP HOORAY!") I don't know how Biscuit made out, but hopefully she was able to get there too. You know guys, I have about a pound of crab dip in my refridgerator that's probably going to go bad that I made for everyone. Any ideas to what I can do with it?

You see, I wanted badly to go, but instead I chose to do the "right" thing and stick home. Ya'll should of heard my thoughts this morning. "I feel like crap and I realy should stay home but than agian all I'll be doing is eating and drinking inside most of the day and probably HACKIN UP A LUNG from being overexited which is going to make things worst and I'll miss more work and than school when it would be a lot better to stay home and drown myself in over the counter medicines adn REFRAIN FROM TALKING because you were stupid enough to go to work yeaterday where you almost lost your voice..." and so and so on.

I choose health over fun, and even though I do feel .8 better form earlier this morning, I still wish I went.

I hope everyone has fun today adn I better get. Feed a cold is how the saying goes, and I haven't eaten a thing all day. And anyway, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is on SCI-FI, and we all know you shouldn't keep Indy waiting.

Everyone take care and I hope none of ya'll get attacked by teh evil germa that float around our world with plas to take us down!

2.17.2005

*cough, cough*

Hello one and all!

I honestly don't have anything in particular to write about today, but I figured I owe it to myself to stick to a good habit and try to keep up my blog! Actually, I really should be in bed right now getting some serious R&R, but isn't that the way we always act. We should get the rest we need, but we seem to fight our bodie's physical screams for help and do what we want anyway. I am sick. There is this constant prescence of evil germs that just will not leave my body. School today was such an errand because of my state. But when I think about it, I actually think I paid better attention because it was so darn hard to pay attention in my classes! Huh! Go figure!

I'm more nervous over how I'm going to be this weekend. I took off specifically for Mr and Mrs Spanky's housewarming party. They live 3 hours away so I needed the extra time to work just to get there and to get back home! I really hop I can make it. I swear, if it comes to it, soemone else can drive my car to get me there! (and it's not like that is not possible; I'm already bringing CK and biscuit. CK? Feel like driving, eh?) But I'll live one day at a time. Mainly because my mind is already at a snail's pace so let me just go with the flow. I am sick. Is it just me, or does the body always seem to revolt at the worst of times?

Blah Blah Blah... & Lundi Gras

Editor's note: The following entry was written and saved ("Hallelujah!!") hours before being posted. "Why are you telling us" you ask? Believe me, it'll make some of the following a little more sensible.

I had to come to school quite early this morning--four hours before my first class, oy vey!--and it felt simply like a waste time. I really was looking forward to wasting my time wisely on the internet, particularly because I have sites to catch up with and some research to so. Go figure that my luck for the day brings the ill-fortune of the internet being down at Delgado for some strange reason. ( And no, the thought has not escaped my mind that my ill fortune is probably being shared by a couple of other folks out there who were also looking forward to wasting time on the internet too!) That also makes it understandable why the computer lab is so darn empty today. So instead of searching the internet, I decided to search my mind and kinda get to writing my next blog…Oh god I wish the internet were up!

I have to tell ya’ll about Lundi Gras! It was a blast! I saw faces I haven’t seen in awhile and got to do things I never done before! (You would think someone who was born and raised in Mardi Gras central would’ve spent at least one Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street, but nooo!) Let’s see, we had CK (whose birthday was the reason we were all gathered; some people simply just have the power to pull hermits out of their dark caves!), Fratnip, Lyric, Biscuit, Ringo, Redwolf, Dynoman and me. We congregated at the Dry Dock, a great little bar/restaurant right by the Algiers’s ferry that is simply just a cool place to hang, enjoy a few suds and a great burger every once in awhile. King Cake was to be shared along with Jell-O-shots, french-fries, and stories about how great CK is…in the amusing type of way. Than the real fun begun; Dynoman separated us into two groups (the winners and the losers) and we begun a scavenger hunt along the Infamous Bourbon Street. I was part of the group that consisted of CK, Fratnip and Lyric (or better known as the winning group mainly because CK was part of it; Dynoman made sure that what-ever party CK was part of, it would be the winning group and major props to him for that*). Lyric greatly shined in being able to persuade the female masses into defiling a tee-shirt with many Birthday wishes to CK. Fratnip had the digital camera—which was a needed prop—and did a mighty fine job in his part as photographer. I would love to share with you what he needed to get pics of, but, this is an open site, and some things are meant to be kept secret! CK’s main goal was to have a good time, in which he did, or at least I thought so…

The evening was great in which we ran into other friends, Renffeh and Crack Monkey, got drunk off of really, really cheap beer, that was actually expensive—go figure—and Lyric, Fratnip and I even danced to a brass band on a side street. Downside of the evening: heaving to clean my shoes the next day. My GAWD that street gets so freakin’ dirty. Sludge and liquor and beer and broken beads and broken cups and I don’t even want to know what else…it was NASTY!! EWWW!!! I don’t think all the rain we got days before really helped out that much with the scene!

*Dynoman definitely deserves a Night Out celebration in his honor for putting together a heckuva night Monday. YOU THE MAN!!!

Happy Mardi Gras 2005

I have had the privilege to grow up in the New Orleans metro area that mainly has given me Mardi Gras. I still remember the time when I found out Mardi Gras wasn’t a national holiday—absolutely shocked me! (It had about the same effect just as when I found out that South-western Louisiana was special in which we did not believe in the words "dry county". Imagine this: a twelve year old goes on a family vacation in Tennessee in which we make a pit stop at the local grocer for some food. It was an unfamiliar store, but still, every store had the same layout, including bread usually being found just around the liquor/wine/beer section…but wait…there is no liquor/wine/beer section here. What in the world?…Hmph…a twelve year old using the liquor section as a guide…) Luckily for me, I am still here in Mardi Gras Headquarters after all these years.

Though I am not one for the hustle and bustle of the season, being worn out of it in my teenage years, I still appreciate what we got. It’s hard not to…unless you are one of the Christian supporters that come into our town each year to spread the message that if you are there enjoying the festivies you are going to go to hell. (I never cared for those folk…there message, to be honest, just doesn’t seem very Christian like. "Ye without sin cast the first stone…" and all of that. Plus, Mardi Gras has very, very strong Christian roots. Party hard and than pray like there’s no tommorrow.) It’s ashame the never stopped to look around and see the good that Mardi Gras brings.

First, as for as I ever have noticed, there is no city quite like New Orleans that know how to party right. Mardi Gras is over a hundred years old and still going strong. Our city’s biggest distinction from ever one else’s sad attempt to recreate what we got going is NOT about booze and tits. (Sorry to disappoint…it’s mainly a effect out of the cause, if ya’ get my meaning.) It’s the trinkets. The beads* and dolls* and coconuts* (kudos to Zulu for creating that cool tradition) and those plastic cups* and those really cheesy, but fun as heck noisemakers* that parade riders pay for out of their own pockets (*all collectively called throws; there’s your education for the day!!). Not the city, but the riders. And believe me, it is not cheap. My aunt, uncle and cousin ride in parades every so often, and from what they told, supplies averaged about $500 a person. And get this, most of the throws my family had were collected from past parades; in other words, it would have been more costly than that!!!

Second, look at the floats. They are a work of art that are mainly done with the artistic talent of the employees of Blaine Kern'sYou haven’t seen Mardi Gras until you seen these floats in action. The colors are so bold and bright that it can give you the sensation of being in some sort of wonderland. Especially at night with the only illumination being the floats themselves which are intertwined with lights everywhere on them.

Third, are the Flambeaux guys. They are mainly men who carry these large, metal framed gas powered flames that illuminate the parade route the old fashion way. Only a few parades are marched by them, though it use to be the norm ages ago. It’s so surreal to see how the flames illuminations makes everyone and everything around it around it have a ghastly glow. And really cool!

In the end, everybody has got to experience Mardi Gras at least once in your lives. I can’t tell you that it’s amazing, and that you are simply never gonna forget it and always will want to come back cause, well, you may not. It isn’t for everyone. But it definitely is not an experience you’ll forget. Ever.

There’s so much more I could tell you about it though you really need to see why it’s such a big deal. I left out the King Cake which is so addictively sweet and best served with a side order of Popeye’s Chicken. ( Now that is a Mardi Gras tradition for me! Yum!) I forgot to mention the costumes that came be loud and outraegous, politically hilarious, traditionally beautiful or simply not there ( as in ala skin, if ya get my meaning!).

And for the folks that can’t do without that little eyeful and a little of the extreme, there always is Bourbon Street, which, 24 hours a day, will have what you’re looking for!

Simply put,
HAPPY MARDI GRAS TO EVERYONE!!

**Stayed tune for the semi-exciting tale of Java FooFoo's Lundi Gras! **

Robbie Gras 2005

Editor's Note: Robbie Gras is still years away from being the National Holiday that it is meant to be. Because of this, you, the reader, may not know what Robbie Gras is about. To find a more information on Robbie Gras, please visit CK's Blog and remit any questions or concerns to him. Thankyou.

Robbie Gras was quite an educational day for me. A day of revelations. Nothing big, of course, mainly because I have come to the conclusion that my life is not meant to be about big revelations, but that is not exactly an interesting subject, so let's just move on.

The day begun great, since I knew I was going to be working with CK and would immediately be able to have the honor of being one of the first people to make fun of...I mean congratulate him on his big day. It's not everyday you turn a year older*, but more importantly, it's not everyday CK turns a year older!

*Out of fear of having my azz handed to me by CK, I will respectfully keep the age of him to myself.

After that the learning process begun, and I would love to share them with you in the bullet format!

  1. Never go to work in a wonderfully, blissfully, calmly mood. You are simply asking for trouble.
  2. Some people just do not have the capacity to learn, just the capacity to watch you correct their mistakes and giggle amusingly about it.
  3. Java foofoo is a good girl!
  4. If you are ever with CK, do not, I repeat, do not leave him alone for 5 minutes; If so, you will return to see a fight in progress.
  5. CK is loved by the ladies.
  6. Java foofoo drinking tolerance is extremely low.
  7. Sometimes, a person reaction to misheard news can be the funniest s%#t!

All in all, it was a good day. But than agian, it's always a good day when you end it with a great friend, kicking back a few drinks, and returning from the bathroom just in time to watch your friend's azz just about to be handed to them!!

"Raindrops keep falling on my head..."

****Editor's Note: The following post was suppose to posted yeasterday on the first. Apparently I wasn't paying any attention to the buttons I needed to press because I pressed 'save' instead of 'post'...go figure...we'll just add it to the evry growing list of my foo foo moments.

It's getting to be that time of day for me when everything just becomes so topsy turvy. As my co-worker might be sayin', "GOOD LORD! It's Bunny Foo Foo!" And he would be quite right.
It feels like I have been up since the crack of dawn (I've only been up since 7AM, not really the crack of dawn!), though technically, this morning has not been any different from any other--even if you include the apocolyptic rains that have pouring down from the sky since I've been conscious. (Well, today at least.) I am located in the ever so De-love-ly city of New Orleans, so it's not exactly that unusual for the skies to rip open above us. It's just that, unfortunately for the city, having a history of once being a swamp only a couple of centuries ago, our city perfers to keep the water above it's lovely land instead of sucking it toward the center. Puddles and puddles galore out here. Or more precisely, a pond over there, a lake over there, "oh!, look!, the Grand Ole Mississippi is no longer the only grand river in New Orleans any more!!"

It's cold , it's more than just wet, I'm tired, and my classes haven't even started yet. Maybe I shouldn't have scheduled afternoon classes? Oh well; consider this yet another one of life's little lessons.

LESSON 24.2.1: Scheduling afternoon classes is not wise when you know that your mental crash time takes place in the afternoon.

Justice? HA!

By now, if you are someone who at least once a day listens to a radio, watches a television, or takes a glance at a computer, you have heard about Juan Manuel Alvarez. You may not herd about his name, but that is the guy who selfishly tried to commit suicide, early Wednesday morning, by parking his jeep in front of an oncoming train, but bailed and left the jeep. He killed 11 people with that stupid ass act and injured hundreds more.

I just found onto on the evening news that they will probably seek the death people for this guy. That is so stupid! Why are they going to be seeking the death penalty for a guy who brought this on because he wanted to commit suicide to begin with? The justice system seems to want to use that "punishment" too much; the death penalty is not a punishment. It's wiping your hands clean of the problem. In this guys case, he should rot in prison. He should be able to spend the rest of his life contemplating over what pain his cowardice brought on. He should be able to know that even if he did succeed, the same outcome would have came out of that. Guilt can be a mighty good punishment for someone at times. The justice system needs to start realizing this before trying to get rid of every murderer with their "godly" action and using the death penalty.

I hate the death penalty...Does it show?

Happy New Year!

It's 2005.
Who would've thunk it would approach so darn quickly.
Who would've thunk that I would feel so darn tired.
Who would've thunk my head would not stop hurting.
Who would've thunk that this has nothing to do with the few drinks I had last night. ( honestly! )
Who would've thunk I would find so many ways to use "who would've thunk."

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S
Best wishes to everyone that 2005 is a great year (or even just good) for ya'll!
